Just steps away from the Peaceful Pelican are walking paths along the Palacios Bay that stretch 1.5 miles long! You'll see a gorgeous landscape of water, sky, and nature perfectly blended. The sea air lightly blows a waft of salty ocean, sea life and Southern sun. You might see diving pelicans and jumping fish as families, fishermen, strollers, and fitness folks share the walkways and piers. On the other side of the walkways you can relax, eat and play in the park that has convenient benches, picnic tables and playgrounds and are open to the public. Along the seawall there are small beaches, free boat ramps and piers to take in the sunset or to go fishing.
WALK, RUN OR CYCLE ALONG THE BAY
The walking paths along the Palacios Bay are one of the area's greatest features. Take a leisurely morning or evening walk while you take in the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the water. Or enjoy an invigorating morning jog in the salty ocean breeze.
There are several sandy enclaves along the walking paths. Step off and enjoy the relaxing sensation of putting your toes in the sand. And if you're looking for a beach outing, Matagorda Beach is just down the road.
Kids can climb, swing and slide on the playgrounds along the walking paths, or play on the grassy grounds. Bring the family and friends and fire up one of the grills to make some good eats and enjoy your meal at one of the many picnic tables available while you sit back on one of the benches to take in the scenery.
CHECK OUT THE SHRIMPING BOAT PORTS
Be sure to take the paths along one of the largest shrimping boat ports in Texas. Boats come in and out as they go on their journeys to catch fresh shrimp in the nearby waters. Needless to say, shrimping is a huge industry in the Palacios region!
