While others fight the crowds and the hyped-up tourism of surrounding areas like Galveston and South Padre Island, Palacios is still a pristine waterfront town with local charm, a slower pace, lots of natural beauty, and peaceful tranquility that almost feels like stepping back in time. It’s not uncommon to encounter locals that will share its history and help guide you on what to see and do. Nearly all of our visitors tell us that it is truly a hidden gem and one of the most unique and pleasant experiences they’ve had. So come on down and visit us! We’re easy to get to – just down the road from Houston, Austin and San Antonio.

Just steps from the Peaceful Pelican are miles of walking paths along the Palacios Bay. Take a leisurely morning or evening walk while you take in the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the water. Or enjoy an invigorating morning jog in the salty ocean breeze. There are several sandy enclaves along the walking paths. Step off and enjoy the relaxing sensation of putting your toes in the sand. And if you’re looking for a beach outing, Matagorda Beach is just down the road.
