Around Town
ENJOY THE SLOWER PACE OF OUR BAYSIDE TOWN
Beyond the waterfront, Palacios is a small, Southern town that is truly off the beaten path with its hospitality, smaller, local family-owned restaurants and shops. It has an interesting mix of seafood, pan-Asian, Mexican, and American food. You can get some great coffee and ice cream. And although it does not have a bustling nightlife, there are some entertaining places to get out at night. Most of all, you'll enjoy taking your time without any pressure to pick up the pace!
EAT AT THE POINT, FEATURED BY ANTHONY BOURDAIN!
The Point, a convenience store with a restaurant, was featured in the 2017 airing of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown – Houston segment. Though ownership and the menu has changed since then, you'll still find good food AND it’s conveniently located just a block down the road from The Peaceful Pelican. While you’re there, pick up a fishing license!
ENJOY GREAT LOCAL EATS OF ALL KINDS
From Coffee and Ice Cream Chicken & Waffles, to Seafood, Mexican food and Asian cuisine, and much more! Palacios has many great places to eat!
ENJOY A CUP OR A CONE
There is nothing like a cup of coffee, latte or cappuccino to start off your morning. The place to get it is Mike’s on Main, where they have a full espresso bar with all of the popular drinks. Mike's also serves up tasty ice cream all year long. A great place to go for dessert!
LISTEN TO LIVE MUSIC
If you want to listen to live music, head to the Outrigger. On Thursday night, it hosts Open Mic, bringing a number of talented local musicians to the stage. And it books music acts from Texas and elsewhere twice a month on Saturday nights. Check out the Outrigger’s event calendar for the next show.
JOIN IN LOCAL EVENTS
Palacios and the neighboring towns have a whole assortment of events going on throughout the year. Among them are Market Days, Artists in Action, Cinco de Mayo, the Christmas Bird Count, and Santa’s arrival on a shrimp boat at Christmas! Check out the Chamber of Commerce events calendar for special events happening during your visit, or plan your visit around one of them!
